AIDS: A new challenge everyday by kate

AIDS and HIV pose a new challenge to the world everyday. With the growing number of infected people all across the world and no adequate treatment or medication available for the masses, AIDS today poses to be the greatest challenge of out times. The limited antiretroviral treatments available are mostly out of reach for the common man who is left with the option of prevention but no cure. AIDS is a challenge to the field of biotechnology. A call that a breakthrough is desperately required. Micro research and macro research need to be collated. Resources and information need to be shared. Countries and nations need to forget their differences and come together. A growing concern in addition is the increasing feminization of AIDS. In addition to the daily increase in AIDS infected patients, a new cause of concern is that more and more women are getting infected by AIDS. Facts and figures show that three times as many women are infected with the AIDS virus than men. There is no extra support for women. In the absence medical treatment for them we can at least make an effort to support them socially and psychologically.
